We have truly lucked out this spring. This was only our fourth wedding of 2016, and with each new wedding day that we shoot, we swear the weddings just keep getting prettier and prettier. Kayla is one of our most stylish brides for sure! Don't remember? Maybe their engagement session will jog your memory! That hat...those leather pants...her candy red blazer...the Birmingham skyline... They were a dream come true! And the crazy thing was, that was a January day. If they got that beautiful of day in mid-January, then there should've been so surprise to us when the sun was shining extra warm and bright on their April wedding day! Good weather must follow wherever they go.
The day we met Kayla for her initial consultation, her dad came along, which was definitely a great surprise! We meet lots of moms and the occasional friend or MOH, but a dad was a first. We loved meeting Gary, and after talking with them, we realized we were going to love her entire family and could not wait for her and Jonathan's big day! The morning of the wedding, we arrived at one of the bridesmaid's homes to find the girls all relaxed and sipping mimosas. Lauren's house had the perfect amount of space and gorgeous light to give the whole atmosphere just the right calmness. We loved having all the bridesmaids in the room when Kayla was getting into her gown. They brought down any nerves and instead, they added some laughter before we headed to the church for their first look.
We had already done our own personal site visit to Independent Presbyterian after meeting with Kayla one day. We were so excited about their wedding, we just had to go check out this sanctuary! We fell in love immediately. The colors of the stained glass literally create prisms of light over the entire room. Kayla had a very specific vision for her first look in the courtyard. She wanted Jonathan to read a letter from her first, which actually brought him to tears. We were all a little surprised by this sweet show of emotion, but soon both Kayla and Jonathan were in tears as she joined him in the courtyard. The rest of the day continued in the same pattern of joyful moments as we watched them become husband and wife, and then dance the night away at Inverness Country Club. Everything was perfect with the help of Liz and Invision Events, and we're so happy that we got to join this vendor team and wonderful couple in such an amazing day!
