Doan Wedding // Mindy + Phong // Bridgestreet Gallery & Loft // Birmingham, AL
(As seen on Borrowed & Blue!)
We are so excited to finally blog this wedding! Mindy and Phong came to us through our friend, Becky Baker, and we loved them from the minute we had our phone consult! Because they live in Texas, we only got to meet them once before the wedding (and it's always such a compliment to have clients trust you from afar!) We were lucky enough to be able to shoot some engagement photos for them in Birmingham one weekend. We loved everything about their vision for their Birmingham wedding and how much of the city they wanted to incorporate into their engagement shoot. We couldn't wait until their day!
Phong and Mindy met through work over seven years ago, and they've been loving life together ever since. They have this great chemistry together and seem to balance each other out perfectly, so it's obvious why they're so great together. We truly saw their not only love, but friendship immediately when we met in person back in March! And when October finally rolled around, we had no idea how adorable these two people would be on their wedding day!
This was our first Jewish wedding, and we loved it. Bridgestreet is one of our very favorite venues as well, so of course that made it all the more beautiful. There were so many special details to this day; these two thought out everything. Some of our favorite details would have to be Phong's custom, hand-cut design of the Ketubah and also the customized fortune cookies waiting for guests as they ended the night. Not to mention, the gorgeous chuppah that Hothouse just really did outdid themselves on! The sun was setting into the horizon when the ceremony began, and the entire upstairs of Bridgestreet became the most warm and inviting shade of orange you've ever seen. It really created a romantic atmosphere and was especially beautiful because up until that point, the whole day had been cloudy!
The entire day for us was so much fun, but these people knew how to have a party after the vows were said and done. We had the BEST time watching these guys have the time of their lives. Favorite reception memory: Somehow a glass broke on the dance floor (always seems to happen...) And one of Bridgestreet's workers came out to clean it up. Well. He was having a little too much fun putting on a show for everyone, and Feel the Beat caught on to what was happening, and they started playing Lil Boosie's "Wipe Me Down." Best. Part. Of. The. Night. Everyone loved it and he stayed on the dance floor for awhile (but he wasn't the only one - Savoie was out there getting down as well!) This wedding has to go down as one of our favorites and we feel so fortunate to have been able to witness your special day, Mindy and Phong!
