Wallace Wedding // Hansel and Gretel // Birmingham, AL

We fell in LOVE with this couple. Like head over heels kind of love... Nicole was referred to us by Ellen, the owner of 28:20 Boutique in Homewood; and when we met with Nicole and her mom, we know our eyes had to have completely lit up when she started describing her wedding day plans. It sounded so charming and intimate!! She planned to exchange vows at her sister, Lucy's, home, which Lucy had appropriately named 'Hansel and Gretel.' It actually rained a good bit on the day of, but honestly...we think it made the whole day even more fairytale-like, tucked away in the woods! Lucy's home was the perfect backdrop for this love story to be celebrated!

I know we've already gushed enough, but we have to talk about Nicole and Daniel! We love every single one of our brides. All of our girls are the most fabulous ladies. But every once in awhile, we have a groom that we love equally as much. Daniel is just one of those guys! These two met because Daniel coached Nicole's nephew's travel ball team. (Can we just add in real quick here how much we love baseball players??) They started facebook messaging and four years later...here we are!

We want to share their proposal story because it is the classic case of a girl complaining about this or that, and being completely oblivious to the surprise! Nicole had always said that she wanted to get engaged before her 30th birthday. So the day before her 30th, Daniel went to ask permission from Nicole's father. (Nothing will ever get our approval more than that, guys!) Of course, Daniel is a wonderful man and he agreed, but he also added: "Just don't let her take advantage of you." Oh we love you, Mr. Rogers! So Daniel leaves and prepares for their memorable evening! He took Nicole to Bottega for a delicious bite to eat, and then they headed to the Vulcan to "take a picture with his GoPro." This is in January and just like any average girl would, Nicole is complaining about the cold. So she decides to get done as quickly as possible and becomes more concerned with getting the picture taken than with what Daniel is doing... Ohhhh, nothing is more exciting than being completely surprised by your proposal! So after saying "YES," they head back home where Nicole's mom had newly purchased toasting flutes waiting, which was to Daniel's surprise! Daniel had never discussed proposing with her at all. Guys, never underestimate the inexplicable power of a mother to know anything!
