THIS WEDDING. It's oh so special to us, not only because we thoroughly enjoyed shooting it, but because we love these two people very, very much. We had heard about Laura for a long time from our friend, Julie. And we finally met this Laura a couple years ago at one of our now semi-frequent dinner dates (Cotton & Clover + Sweet Julep = BFF). We were sitting at Surin having a delicious sushi date and we knew immediately that we were going to like this girl and be friends! Laura was so kind and so extremely talented that when she told us that she wanted us to shoot her wedding, we were super flattered, but then also nervous. Shooting another wedding photographer's wedding - talk about pressure! It wasn't too long after that we met Cody at their consultation. (Laura wanted to have the normal bride's experience of planning and booking her vendors even though we knew her personally and professionally!) At the meeting, Cody was funny and cute and sweet and kind of nerdy - all the things we love! We totally got why Laura loved him so much. :) Then we found out just how much of a stud he was at their engagement session (see that here!) These two beautiful people really know how to have their photo taken.
On the wedding day, we were blown away. We expected beautiful details from Laura, but she really exceeded our expectations. She completely designed all of her centerpieces and they were fabulous. We knew she had been picking up things here and there for a long while, but to see it all come together was beautiful! She really thought every little thing out. She had a clear vision and she truly brought those ideas to life! We loved that their details reflected their interests and personalities, too (like the wooden ring boxes she had ready for us!)
We also felt so honored that Laura truly 100% trusted us with her wedding day. We would ask her if this or that was okay, and she would always respond, "I trust you. Whatever, wherever you think is what we'll do." And the amazing thing is, when our clients fully trust us and allow us to do our job - that is when we really have the ability to create. It's an amazing thing really! Laura and Cody, we cannot thank you enough for allowing us to witness your big day. From your emotional, heart-tugging first look to your ceremony filled with worship music to your joyous, colorful goodbye in a bright red Packard, we are SO happy that you met that day at the church summer retreat in 2006. We know life is even more wonderful when you have each other. :)
